Looking back on a productive 2021 at LINDAL

Hamburg, Germany – December 22nd, 2021

Last year, we looked back on 12 months of adaption and continuity. This year, we are reflecting on a year of continued stability and new developments. With the opening of our state-of-the-art facility in Brazil, the appointment of our new COO and the introduction of new capabilities and product launches, it’s been a productive year at LINDAL.

We began 2021 by marking our continual progress in the Chinese market with news of our KHFA valve published as a product on China’s Centre for Drug Evaluation website. The update was closely followed by the launch of our new 3D Aerosol Configurator, a new online tool transforming traditional packaging design processes by allowing customers to access a suite of editing and design tools to easily create 3D aerosol packaging. Our customers’ Research and Development and marketing teams are now able to visualise full aerosol packaging at the early stages of the design process thanks to the technology.

New appointments

Later in Quarter 2, we announced that a new Chief Operator Officer, Frederic Noel would be joining our Executive Team to lead the vision for even greater operational excellence across the Group. Frederic has brought with him decades of experience driving major transformations and improving profitability, his new appointment sees him now supervising all operations activities for the group. Alongside Frederic’s appointment, Roman Merino stepped in as Global Head of Customer and Technical Services, to develop the capabilities of CTS and Dave Murphy also joined as LINDAL North America’s Sales Director replacing Alex Piagnarelli who will now be working in a new role as LNA Business Development Manager.

The opening of our Brazil facility

Summer 2021 also brought about a new development with the official opening of our 12,000 sqm facility in São Paulo, Brazil. The sustainably built facility took 370 days to become fully operational after ground broke at the site. Supporting leaner manufacturing processes and gaining EDGE certification from Green Business Certification Inc. it is the first industrial building in all of Brazil to achieve the accreditation and the complete project represents our largest investment to date.

New capabilities and products

Throughout the year, we saw the implementation of new key capabilities across the group, including the introduction of an advanced spray imaging system deployed at our Global Innovation Centre. The technology complements our existing in-depth spray analysis systems by providing additional spray characterisations, capturing spray behaviour at high speeds using optical techniques.

Our capabilities were coupled with the launch of several new products too, the Flip440 spray head with over cap, represented an enhancement in design of the ST440 actuator. We also partnered with Alternative Packaging Solutions (APS) to develop a continuous dispensing system, miniMist, a solution that presents a sustainable alternative to existing aerosol formats.

Introduction of RxPack

We also announced the creation of a standalone company, RxPack in collaboration with Coster Group to focus on spray solutions for pharmaceutical applications.

A rewarding end to the year

Awards season began towards the end of 2021 when we were pleased to be recognised at the BAMA Awards, receiving Runners Up awards for our 3D Aerosol Configurator in the Aerosol Packaging Award category, and our Bag-and-Bag technology in the Aerosol of the Year Award category for its use in anti-sceptic wound cleaner, HemaScrub™. We were also delighted that the team at Altachem was acknowledged for its work on the Added Value Gun (AVG) at the FEA Global Aerosol Awards, picking up a win for best Prototype. The fluid dispensing gun for one-component polyurethane foam solves a number of user challenges synonymous with traditional PU foam applicators, and was noted for its unique performance and sustainability features by the judges. As we look ahead to its official launch in 2022, we also look forward to building on all of the positive developments that have taken place at LINDAL throughout 2021.
