2020: a year of adaption, continuity and results

December 22, 2020

Without doubt, 2020 has presented us all with unexpected obstacles, but despite the uncertainty, we’re pleased to look back on a year when we came together to adapt our operations, maintain business continuity and ensure the needs of our customers and employees were met during the global pandemic.

We are proud of producing and supplying millions of critical components globally for hand sanitisers and disinfectants this year and we also supported our local communities by donating hand sanitisers and face shields.

Although the pandemic has been a large challenge this year, business has continued. The year began with the launch of the Mini Engine platform at ADF Paris. This new technology uniquely separates the actuator body from the Mini Engine, ensuring that PCR does not come into contact with the formulation. As the entire body is made of PCR, CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 70% compared to using a virgin plastic.

Along with the continual developments throughout the year, we also launched our Olive actuator created for edible oil products. Olive complements our highly popular Cozy actuator. Both actuators are featured with LINDAL’s patented oil insert and will enable to consolidate LINDAL’s leading position in this fast-growing market segment.

Following on growing demand for personal care spray caps, we recently launched TEO, a new actuator with a fresh design suitable for bodysprays.

Our success with new product development has been accompanied by triumphs with industry awards too. Following an award win in September 2019, together with DuPont’s Performance Building Solutions, we jointly picked up another ADF award in January 2020 for the Great Stuff™ Smart Dispenser™.

We were also thrilled to receive acknowledgement for our innovative BAB technology by collecting the prestigious FEA award in October. Our R&D expertise played a pivotal role in developing a highly technical new product that opens doors to applications that were not previously possible in an aerosol format.

This year we have also continued our global expansion plans into existing and new markets. In February, the groundbreaking ceremony of our $25 million investment in Jundiaí, São Paulo, Brazil took place. At 12,500 sqm and employing around 130 people, the new facility represents our largest investment to date and reflects the substantial growth in aerosol consumption in Brazil. We remain excited about the growth potential in the Brazilian market and the opportunities that await us. Despite all the challenges this year, we are on track to open the facility next year.

As part of LINDAL’s commitment to better serve the Chinese market, we now have a local sales representative based in Shanghai, China. A footprint has now been established in China to provide a better service to our customers, giving them access to our products and expertise.

Overall, our awards, launches and successes have interspersed a year of adjusting to completely new routines and protocols and we believe our achievements in 2020 are a great success in what has been an extraordinary and difficult time for many. Because of the resilience, enthusiasm and support of all of our employees across every single one of our facilities, we can build on our progress further, and look forward to a productive and prosperous 2021.
